Is PROFHILO a Dermal Filler?
PROFHILO is not a dermal filler. While both treatments use Hyaluronic acid, dermal filler is used to add volume and structure, Profhilo remodels the skin, improving the quality and helping to counteract the ageing of the skin.
What does PROFHILO treatment involve?
PROFHILO is an injectable which is administered just under the skin. A single course contains 2 treatments, which take place over 4 weeks, and should be repeated every 6 months to maintain results.
Could I get PROFHILO to target, lines on my forehead or around the eyes?
No, PROFHILO will not work on forehead lines or eye wrinkles. For help with fine lines and wrinkles, see our page on anti-wrinkle injections and Botox.
Where can PROFHILO be used?
Will PROFHILO work for my skin type?
Our skin starts to lose elasticity and youthfulness once we hit 25, so this is a good age to contemplate anti-ageing and preventative treatments. If you think your skin quality has deteriorated, and you can see the signs of ageing, PROFHILO could be a good option for you.
Pre-treatment advice
As there can be some swelling, bruising, or redness after treatment, please take this into account when planning any social events.
Please make sure that you don’t have any cold sores, and are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
For 7 days before treatment please avoid taking Ibuprofen (unless prescribed), alcohol, and the following supplements:
- St. John’s Wort
- Fish oils
- Garlic
- Gingko Biloba
- Vitamins A-E
All of these can contribute to bruising, so we recommend avoiding them.
In order to reduce the risk of infection, please refrain from wearing make-up at your appointment.
After-care advice
You may experience some redness and swelling up to an hour post treatment.
Do not apply pressure to the treatment site for 8 hours, and do not wear make-up for 24 hours post treatment.
Please stay upright for at least 4 hours after treatment.
Avoid drinking alcohol, doing excessive exercise, and extreme temperatures for 24 hours post treatment.
To try and avoid bruising, please see the list of things to avoid in Pre-Treatment advice. If bruising does occur, Arnica can be helpful.
PROFHILO can take up to 3 days to take effect, and you will be able to see results about a week post treatment, with full results being visible 2 weeks afterwards.
If the treatment area feels slightly heavy, it means that your muscles are starting to relax, and the treatment is working.
If this is your first time getting this treatment, we will contact you after 2 weeks to evaluate your results, and see if any adjustments need to be made.

PRP promotes the regeneration of the skin tissue, helping to soften fine lines and wrinkles and also to prevent hair loss or stabilize transplanted hair follicles after hair restoration surgery.
